Police said the deceased, aged 45, was found lifeless on Friday, October 17, after being dumped along a bush path close to the university. Preliminary investigations showed that the body had been transported in a vehicle before being abandoned at the scene.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 22, the command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed that the suspect, Garba, serves as the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Karasuwa Local Government and also holds a position in the Gashua Vegetables Market Association.

During interrogation, Garba reportedly admitted that he had given the victim a ride on the day of her death. According to police findings, an argument broke out between the two after Falmata requested financial help for her food business. The dispute allegedly escalated, leading to her death inside the vehicle.

The suspect told investigators that upon realizing she had died, he disposed of her body in a nearby bush around 10 p.m. that night.

The Police Command described the arrest as another major success resulting from its proactive intelligence and operational strategies. Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, commended officers of the Bade Division for swiftly tracking down the suspect and promised that justice would be served.

He also assured the public that the investigation would be thoroughly completed and the case charged to court. The command urged residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing credible information that could help prevent crime across Yobe State.
