Police Summon Officers Filmed Beating Residents in Abuja

The FCT Police Command has summoned officers filmed ass@ulting two men in a viral video.

Authorities said the officers have been identified and will face investigation for unprofessional conduct.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has summoned a group of officers seen in a viral video ass@ulting members of the public.

The video, which surfaced on social media on Tuesday, October 21, showed the officers slapping two men and forcefully pushing them into a patrol van. The footage has led many Nigerians to demand disciplinary action against the officers involved.

Reacting to the incident, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the officers had been identified and summoned to the Command Headquarters for questioning.

“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, strongly condemns such unprofessional conduct,” Adeh said in a statement posted on her X handle. “All officers captured in the video have been summoned to the Command Headquarters, and the complainants are also invited to give their statements to aid the investigation.”

She assured the public that the case would be handled transparently and urged anyone with additional information to contact her directly via 07038979348 or the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at 08107314192.
