Williams Uchemba Calls for Public Execution of Convicted Kidnappers

Williams Uchemba has called for public execution of convicted kidnappers, saying it would deter crime and restore order.

The actor argued that visible punishment is necessary to curb Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

Nollywood actor and humanitarian Williams Uchemba has urged the Nigerian government to introduce public execution for convicted kidnappers, arguing that the measure would serve as a strong deterrent to rising insecurity across the country.

Speaking in a video shared on social media, Uchemba said the lack of visible punishment for serious crimes like kidnapping has emboldened criminals. He maintained that people must witness consequences before real change can occur.

“When a child begins to steal meat from the mother’s pot and the mother does very little in terms of punishment, she’s breeding a hardened criminal who might one day become a national disgrace,” he said.

The actor lamented that despite Nigeria’s laws prescribing death as the penalty for kidnapping, few offenders are seen facing justice publicly. He suggested that a dedicated television channel could even broadcast such executions to remind citizens of the law’s strength.

“We want to be like China but we don’t have the courage China has. In China, the punishment for kidnapping and corruption is death,” Uchemba added.
