The lawyer was taken to the Kuje Medical Centre after the incident for urgent medical care. He is said to be receiving treatment and under close watch by medical staff.

One of the legal representatives of Kanu, Maxwell Opara, confirmed the situation during a conversation with reporters on Saturday. He explained that he visited the facility to see his colleague and was informed that the collapse happened before he arrived. Opara said he insisted on checking on him and was eventually allowed to see him at the medical unit. He also mentioned that other detainees, including activist Omoyele Sowore, were present in the facility.

This development comes a day after the presiding judge at the Kuje Magistrate Court, Abubakar Umar Sai’id, declined to approve the bail bond for Ejimakor’s release.

Ejimakor and 12 others, including Kanu’s younger brother Prince Emmanuel Kanu, were arrested on Monday during a protest calling for the release of the IPOB leader in Abuja. They were later taken before the court in Kuje by the Nigeria Police Force.

Supporters of the detained lawyer and other activists have continued to call for their release, expressing concern over his sudden health issue while in custody.
