Plateau Police Arrest UniJos Student Over Alleged K!lling of His Friend
Police arrest a UNIJOS student accused of k!lling his friend and burying him secretly.
Investigators say the shocking incident may be linked to a disagreement over music work.
Police in Plateau State have taken a University of Jos student into custody for allegedly k!lling his close friend and burying him in a shallow grave at his off-campus residence in the Laranto area of Jos.

The suspect, identified as Nanpon Timnan, is a 200-level Agriculture student. The victim, Peter Mafuyai, was a 300-level Banking and Finance student at the same institution.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, October 25, after the two friends returned from a music studio session. Students who knew them said they often spent time together and shared a strong interest in music.
A student who witnessed part of the incident said both men had been together earlier in the day. After arriving home from the studio, Timnan allegedly picked up a machete. According to the witness, other occupants of the house questioned him about it but he made no clear response. The witness claimed Timnan then struck his friend, forcing others to rush out to call for help. When they returned, Mafuyai had already been buried behind the house.
The police were alerted and began questioning those close to the suspect. A police source said early findings suggest the two may have disagreed over a music project they were working on.
Officers attached to the Laranto Division arrested the suspect after receiving a distress call around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The remains of the victim were later exhumed and taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
The university’s Acting Head of Information, Tongdyen Dachung, said an official statement would be issued after confirmation of details. The Student Union Government President, Jane Pwajok, noted that the matter is in police hands and the union is monitoring the situation.
The Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, has not yet issued a formal comment on the case.
