Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, explained during a media briefing that the rumored 149 percent rise in tuition is not true. She noted that some programmes still pay around N150,000.

According to her, the institution has also reached out to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to make sure that students who truly need help are included in the loan scheme.

She said the university remains open about its fees and that the information is available online. She added that the charges are still subsidized by the Ondo State Government and remain competitive compared to other schools.

Prof. Adejuyigbe also spoke on the transfer of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital complex in Akure to the Federal University of Technology, Akure. She said the agreement allows UNIMED students to make full use of the facilities and lecturers at the centre.

She stated that the change would not interrupt training for UNIMED students since the institution has enough facilities at its main hospital in Ondo and will continue to partner with other universities to improve medical education.
