Bode George Says His Children Struggle to Get Jobs in Nigeria Because of His Name

Bode George says his children struggle to get jobs because employers often avoid his name.

He warns hunger and unemployment are rising fast and young Nigerians are deeply losing hope.

A senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has stated that his children find it difficult to secure jobs in Nigeria because they are linked to him. He made the remark during a radio conversation on Nigeria Info FM 99.3, where he spoke about the current economic hardship in the country.

George said that hunger and frustration are growing across Nigeria. He explained that many citizens, especially young people, are struggling to survive. According to him, the situation has reached a point where both graduates and non graduates are losing hope in finding work that can support their future.

He said that those without vocational skills should be supported with special funds that can help them learn skills and become useful to themselves and society. He also suggested that young graduates who want to open small businesses should be able to apply for micro credit to get started.

The former military governor questioned the call by the First Lady for public donations to build a national library. He argued that instead of asking ordinary people, the President could have told wealthy individuals who easily raise large sums of money to fund the project through a properly managed process. He said this would ensure the money benefits the public and is handled with transparency.

George added that even his own children have felt the effect of the economic situation and political division. He said they have finished school and returned home to look for employment, but companies refuse to hire them because they bear his surname.

He warned that the country must act quickly to address unemployment and rising hunger, saying that peace and progress cannot be achieved when many citizens feel abandoned and hopeless.
