She spoke during cross examination by Quadri’s lawyer, Babatunde Busari, who tried to confirm whether his client had any role in the incident.

Ojukwu and Quadri are facing an eight count charge that includes conspiracy and murder. A third defendant, Chioma Egbuchu, is accused of stealing Ataga’s iPhone 7.

While giving her evidence, Ojukwu said her relationship with Quadri was only about getting drugs and making her school identity card. She insisted that Quadri was not aware of what happened between her and Ataga in the Lekki apartment. She also said he did not visit the apartment while she was there.

She told the court that she contacted Quadri only when Ataga said he had almost finished his supply of a drug called Loud. Ojukwu further admitted taking a brown envelope when she left the apartment, saying it contained Ataga’s documents such as his driver license, ID card, bank statements and other papers. She said she took it by mistake and mentioned it to the police.

At an earlier stage of the sitting, Justice Yetunde Adesanya accepted some letters submitted by Ojukwu’s lawyer, Onwuka Egwu, asking for certain items to be produced as evidence. After that, Egwu presented some gadgets linked to the case. Ojukwu identified them and explained that an iPhone 7 Plus belonged to her sister, while an iPhone 11 Pro, an iPhone X and a silver MacBook Pro were hers. She said she later sold the laptop to a vendor.

The state government claims that Ojukwu and Quadri planned the k!lling and st@bbed Ataga several times in the neck and chest on June 15, 2021, inside a short let apartment in Lekki Phase One, Lagos.

The court will continue the trial on November 6.
