Enugu Man Arrested for Allegedly Abu3ing His Two Young Daughters
A father in Enugu has been arrested for allegedly ab3sing his two young daughters.
The state placed the children in protective care as police continue investigating the disturbing case.
The Enugu State Government has confirmed the arrest of a man identified as Ozioma Okonkwo for the alleged ab3se of his two daughters, aged two and five.
Okonkwo, who is from Imo State but lives in Enugu, was arrested on Saturday night, October 25, 2025. His arrest followed a quick report made by a concerned citizen who reached out to the authorities.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development on Sunday, the suspect is being held by the police while investigations continue. The ministry said he will be taken to court once the case is ready.
The two children have been placed in a safe shelter managed by the government. They are being given medical attention and emotional support. Their mother, who is said to be very distressed, will also receive counseling through the ministry’s social welfare team.
The government praised the police for acting quickly, which led to the arrest without delay. It also assured residents that there is a firm stand against any form of v!olence against children or women, and that anyone found guilty will be punished fully under the law.
The Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development strongly condemned the incident, calling it a painful and unacceptable act done to innocent children.
