Ouattara Wins Fourth Term with Big Victory in Ivory Coast Election
President Alassane Ouattara has won another term in Ivory Coast after a dominant election result.
The opposition raised concerns but voting day ended peacefully across the country.
Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has been re elected for a fourth term after winning 89.77 percent of the votes in the election held on Saturday, according to the national electoral commission on Monday.

Almost nine million people were registered to vote in the country, which is the largest producer of cocoa in the world.
There were worries about possible unrest before the vote because the opposition complained that some top candidates were barred from contesting. However, the election day passed without major trouble.
Early results showed Ouattara leading by a wide margin in many parts of the country. Turnout was very high in the northern areas where he is most popular. He also scored better than expected in some southern regions and parts of Abidjan where the opposition usually has more support, although fewer people voted there.
Businessman Jean Louis Billon came second with 3.09 percent of the votes, according to the electoral commission head Ibrahime Kuibiert Coulibaly. Overall turnout was put at 50.10 percent, which is close to the turnout recorded in the 2020 presidential poll.
Ouattara, who is 82 years old and has been in power since 2011, remains a powerful figure in the country’s politics. His latest win shows that he still has strong control at a time when many countries in West Africa are facing political instability.
