Judge Tony Baumgartner approved the change to his bail conditions at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday, October 28. Chris Brown, who appeared in a white shirt and tie, waved and flashed peace signs as he exited the courtroom.

The singer is accused of att@cking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle at Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023. Prosecutors say the alleged victim was hit several times with a bottle, then chased, punched, and kicked in another section of the venue.

Chris Brown, 35, has pleaded not guilty to ass@ult occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon (a bottle), and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm. His co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, 39, also pleaded not guilty.

According to Prosecutor Heidi Stonecliffe KC, Chris Brown’s bail terms remain “very stringent,” including a £5 million security bond that will be forfeited if he fails to return to the UK when required.

Chris Brown was arrested on May 15, 2025 at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester and granted bail with conditions that previously restricted his travel. The judge warned both men that they must report back to court.

“You will have to come back to the United Kingdom when you are required to do so,” Judge Baumgartner said.

The next court date is set for January 28, ahead of a full trial.

Chris Brown has continued touring through his legal challenges. During a concert in Manchester earlier this year, he even thanked prison staff from HMP Forest Bank, saying: “Thank you to the jail, y’all was really nice.”
