Oladips Recounts Arrest by EFCC Over Alleged Tax Evasion
Rapper Oladips has revealed how EFCC operatives arrested him during a midnight raid over alleged tax evasion.
He said agents found no fraud evidence but detained him for unpaid taxes.
Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, widely known as Oladips, has shared how he was arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged tax evasion.

In an interview with Hip TV, Oladips narrated that the EFCC stormed his estate around 3am in November 2024, arresting several residents, including him. He said the operatives accused him of fraud but later changed their focus after finding no evidence.
According to him, “Nigeria just happened to me because it was just a normal night and EFCC entered my estate. I mean it’s a big estate and they were just going from house to house arresting people. I was inside my house. It was about 3am.”
He explained that he saw messages in the estate group chat warning that EFCC agents were around but didn’t panic because he had nothing to hide. The rapper said he remained calm on his bed, scrolling through his phone, believing the situation did not concern him since he wasn’t into fraud.
Oladips further recounted that the operatives broke into his kitchen door and demanded his phone and laptop. “I’m only using two phones, I don’t have a laptop. So they collected my phones, did their investigation and realized that I don’t do fraud,” he added.
He said the operatives, unable to find any incriminating evidence, later questioned him about his tax record. “When they couldn’t find anything to hold me down, one of their oga came out and asked if I pay tax. That’s how they locked me up for not paying tax,” he said.
Reflecting on the incident, Oladips described it as a shocking and humiliating experience. He said he never imagined being arrested for something as basic as tax, especially after being cleared of all fraud allegations.
