Rafatu shared her opinion in a Facebook post, explaining that she accepts polygamy as part of her faith and culture. She noted that her tribe practiced it even before the introduction of Islam.
According to her, women should understand that helping their husbands grow financially or emotionally does not stop them from marrying more wives, especially in a Muslim setting.
She advised women to focus on their own development while supporting their partners, stressing that wisdom and independence are important in such relationships.
In her words: “As a Muslim single woman, I’ve learned to accept polygamy. Even before Islam, my tribe practiced it, so understanding this helps me stay grounded. When you help a man build himself, remember you can’t bind him from taking another wife just because you were there from the start.”
Rafatu added that women should not see polygamy as something to fight against but as something to understand and manage. She concluded by saying that, in her view, “a successful Muslim man belongs to many, not just one.”
