Don Jazzy Reveals He Almost Quit Music After Mo’Hits Split
Don Jazzy has revealed he almost quit music after the 2012 breakup of Mo’Hits Records.
He said friends convinced him to stay, leading to the creation of Mavin Records.
Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, has revealed that he nearly quit music following the sudden collapse of Mo’Hits Records in 2012.

The celebrated music executive, who co-founded Mo’Hits with D’banj, admitted during an interview with ‘Rolling Stone’ that the label’s breakup deeply affected him, to the point where he considered relocating abroad and giving up his career entirely.
“When Mo’Hits ended, I thought that was it. I almost packed up to move abroad. But friends encouraged me to stay and start again, and Mavin Records was born. Since then, I’ve learned not to let anything break me,” Don Jazzy said.
He credited his close friends for convincing him to remain in Nigeria and rebuild his brand, a decision that eventually led to the birth of Mavin Records one of Africa’s most successful music labels.
Since its launch, Mavin has produced several top-tier artists, including Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Di’ja, and Wande Coal, while its current roster features global stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, and Johnny Drille.
In 2024, Universal Music Group acquired a majority stake in Mavin Global, signaling the label’s continued international growth and dominance.
