Finance Minister Wale Edun Allegedly Collapses Over ‘Kill List’ Linked to Coup Plot

Finance Minister Wale Edun has reportedly gone to London for medical care after allegedly collapsing over a rumored “kill list” tied to a coup plot.

The claims have heightened political tension nationwide.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, has reportedly travelled to London for medical treatment after allegedly collapsing upon learning that his name appeared on a purported “kill list” connected to an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to sources within the government, the finance minister fainted after being shown the alleged document said to have been compiled by some military officers accused of planning to overthrow the government through violent means.

Initial reports claimed that Edun was still in Nigeria, but videos later emerged showing him in London, looking frail while attending an art event. The footage was shared online as evidence that he was alive but unwell.

Two weeks earlier, the minister himself admitted that he had travelled to the United Kingdom for medical care after days of conflicting reports about his health. Individuals close to his office were quoted as describing his condition as “very serious.”

The alleged coup plot has heightened tension within the military and intelligence community. Several officers have reportedly been arrested by military intelligence units following weeks of covert surveillance. While military authorities said the arrests were linked to issues around promotion exams and disciplinary breaches, security insiders claimed they were connected to a foiled plan to destabilize the government around Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1.

Multiple security agencies, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force, were said to have collaborated in the operations that led to the arrests.

Though the authenticity of the so-called “kill list” remains unverified, the situation has sparked growing concern about political stability and the safety of key officials within the Tinubu administration.
