The actress, who now boasts over 1.4 million followers on Facebook, nearly a million on TikTok and Instagram, and close to 100,000 YouTube subscribers, said creating comedy skits gave her a new direction and financial stability.

Speaking in a recent interview, Yisa explained that she started as an actress but later embraced skitmaking after realizing how lucrative and flexible it was compared to traditional movie production.

“Nothing really has been happening apart from me trying to diversify. I started as an actress and fell in love with skit making. Who doesn’t want to shoot skit for less than 30 minutes and make money from it? As you know, skit making makes faster money than movies,” she said.

She added that her passion for storytelling remains the same, but skitmaking provided a better platform to express creativity and earn a living.

“When I saw an opportunity in skit making, I decided to take it up. I am back into the industry. I have shot two movies back to back, and one of them, ‘Lost Blood,’ is currently getting great reviews on YouTube. From now on, expect to see more from me. I only took a break to do skitmaking,” she noted.

According to her, skitmaking has become one of the most profitable areas in entertainment, attracting many top figures in Nollywood and music.

“To be honest, it is one of the most lucrative ventures to do as an entertainer. Skitmaking saved and changed my life. Almost everybody does skits now, Mercy Johnson, Destiny Etiko, Don Jazzy, etc. As you make money from acting, you also earn from your social media platforms,” Yisa said.

She also spoke about how digital platforms have made the industry more open, allowing creators to promote their work without depending on producers or executives.

“Gone are the days when you had to go through producers to make it in Nollywood. The industry has grown, and with platforms like YouTube, nobody depends on anyone to promote them anymore. YouTube, at the end of the day, is our retirement plan,” she added.

Yisa continues to combine acting with content creation and says she hopes to inspire young entertainers to embrace new opportunities in the digital space.
