The Lagos State Police have arrested a taxi driver accused of att@cking and robbing female passengers.
Authorities said the suspect, Adedayo Adegbola, was linked to multiple r8pe and ass8ult cases.
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a commercial taxi driver, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, for allegedly att@cking and ass8ulting several female passengers across the state.
Police authorities said Adegbola was wanted in connection with multiple cases of r8pe, defilement, indecent ass@ult, and armed robbery. His photograph, which circulated widely on social media, led several victims to identify him as the suspect responsible for the crimes.
Following strict orders from the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohunda Jimoh, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, began a detailed investigation after receiving numerous reports from victims. Their efforts paid off when Adegbola was tracked down and arrested on October 31, 2025.
According to police reports, officers recovered a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT, which the suspect allegedly used to lure and att@ck his victims. The car has been taken into custody as evidence to aid prosecution.
Adegbola is currently being held at the SCID headquarters in Panti as investigations continue. Police sources revealed that detectives are also pursuing leads to identify and arrest possible accomplices.
The Command urged any other victims of the suspect to come forward and report their experiences directly to the SCID. The police assured the public that all reports would be treated confidentially and that victims’ identities would be protected.
Commissioner Olohunda Jimoh reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to justice, safety, and the protection of all residents of Lagos. He assured that the suspect would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, adding that more details of the investigation would be released in due course.
