PDP Suspends Four Top Officials Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Peoples Democratic Party has suspended four top national officers for alleged anti-party activities.

The decision followed an emergency meeting by the National Working Committee in Abuja on Saturday.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended four senior national officers over alleged anti-party conduct. The decision was reached after an emergency meeting held in Abuja on Saturday, November 1.

The suspended officials are National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Organising Secretary Hon. Umar Bature, National Legal Adviser Kamal Deen Ajibade (SAN), and Deputy National Legal Adviser Barrister Okechukwu Osuoha.

According to the party, the suspension will last one month pending the outcome of investigations by the National Disciplinary Committee. During this period, the affected officials are barred from performing their duties.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the decision followed a careful review of the conduct of certain party officials. He explained that the party had earlier warned members against actions capable of undermining its unity and public image.

“The NWC reviewed recent activities within the party and took some decisions. You will recall that on August 8, 2025, the party cautioned members involved in anti-party activities. After further review, the committee found that some senior members continued to act against the interest of the PDP,” Ologunagba said.

He stated that the suspended members were found to have violated key provisions of the PDP Constitution, which forbids conduct that could bring the party into disrepute or cause internal division.

The NWC also announced temporary replacements to ensure continuity. The Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Arch Setonji Koshedo, will serve as acting National Secretary, while the Director of Legal Services will oversee the Legal Department during the suspension period.

Both the National Legal Adviser and his deputy have been referred to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee for further action. The National Secretary and National Organising Secretary will also face internal inquiries in line with the PDP Constitution.

Ologunagba reaffirmed the NWC’s commitment to maintaining discipline and unity within the party ahead of upcoming political activities.
