FUOYE SUG Cautions NYCN Against Unapproved Campus Protest
FUOYE’s Students’ Union has cautioned the National Youth Council of Nigeria against staging protests on campus.
It said such unauthorized actions threaten peace and will face firm disciplinary response.
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has warned the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) to desist from plans to hold any form of protest within the university premises, describing the move as unauthorized and unacceptable.

In a statement titled “Letter of Resistance and Warning Against NYCN Protest Within FUOYE,” signed by the SUG President, Adio James; General Secretary, Alao Ayorinde; and Public Relations Officer, Abiola David, the union said it would not tolerate any attempt to disrupt the peace currently prevailing in the institution.
The SUG maintained that FUOYE is an academic community devoted to learning, research, and development, and not a ground for political mobilization or external agitation. It stressed that no organization outside the university has the right to hold demonstrations or public gatherings within its environment without the union’s approval.
“The attention of the FUOYE SUG has been drawn to a proposed protest being organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria within or around our university premises,” the statement said. “FUOYE is an academic environment dedicated to learning and research, not a platform for political movements. No external body is permitted to stage protests or gatherings here without proper authorization.”
The SUG described the proposed action as unnecessary and capable of disturbing the peace and order enjoyed by students and staff. It warned that any defiance of its directive would be regarded as a deliberate act of provocation and trespass.
The union further stated that it would work with the university management and security agencies to take all necessary disciplinary and legal steps to protect the integrity and tranquility of the institution.
It urged the NYCN to suspend all plans for mobilization within or around FUOYE and instead pursue peaceful dialogue or lawful means to express their concerns.
