The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said recovery operations began immediately in partnership with other emergency agencies. Officials moved quickly to secure the area and ensure the overturned tanker was safely removed.

The crash happened near the Chisco traffic light, causing serious congestion for motorists heading toward Victoria Island. The affected section was temporarily sealed off to control movement and reduce the risk of secondary accidents.

In a statement, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, explained that the main carriageway had to be closed briefly to allow a safe and professional recovery process. He urged drivers to remain patient and cooperate with traffic officers during the operation.

Taofiq added that efforts were underway to complete the evacuation swiftly and restore normal movement. He assured the public that the safety of all road users was a top priority and promised that the road would be reopened once the area was fully cleared.
