Over 1,000 NNPP Members Defect to APC in Kano
More than one thousand NNPP and Kwankwasiyya members have joined the APC in Kano.
They said President Tinubu’s leadership and Senator Barau Jibrin’s achievements inspired their move.
Over one thousand members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

The mass defection was announced in a statement released on Sunday by Ismail Mudashir, media aide to the Deputy Senate President, Barau I. Jibrin. The event took place at the Fine Time Events Centre in Kano, where the defectors were formally welcomed into the APC.
According to the statement, the group said their decision was influenced by the visible efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Jibrin in promoting development and improving the welfare of citizens.
Aminu Minjibir, leader of the defectors, explained that they had played key roles in strengthening the Kwankwasiyya Movement but were no longer satisfied with the NNPP’s performance. He said the party had failed to meet the expectations of Kano residents.
While welcoming the new members, Senator Jibrin praised their decision, describing it as a move in the right direction. He emphasized that the APC remains the biggest political platform in Africa and is committed to delivering progress and stability across Nigeria.
He also called on others in the state to join hands with the APC to advance Kano’s development and support national unity.
