Police Declare Sowore Wanted Over Alleged Plan to Disrupt Public Order

Police in Lagos have declared activist Omoyele Sowore wanted for allegedly planning to cause public disturbance.

The Commissioner of Police warned him to surrender immediately or face arrest.

The Lagos State Police Command has declared human rights activist Omoyele Sowore wanted over allegations that he planned to incite public disorder and block major roads across the state.

Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, made this known on Monday while addressing reporters at the Iyana-Oworo section of the Third Mainland Bridge. He stated that security operatives were tracking Sowore and others suspected of organizing activities aimed at disturbing public peace.

Jimoh warned the activist to turn himself in at the nearest police station, noting that failure to do so would lead to his arrest. He also cautioned that anyone attempting to cause unrest or obstruct movement in the state would be dealt with according to the law.

The police boss added that intelligence reports had revealed plans by Sowore and his associates to hold demonstrations at key locations, including the Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Tollgate, and Freedom Park.
