President Bola Tinubu has nominated Enugu’s Attorney-General, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, as a new federal minister.

His nomination follows Uche Nnaji’s resignation, creating a vacant cabinet position for Enugu State.

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the current Attorney-General of Enugu State, as a Minister of the Federal Republic.

Attorney-General, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude

The nomination was announced in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session at the National Assembly. The Senate has referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for screening and possible confirmation.

Dr. Ude’s appointment follows the recent resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who stepped down amid controversy over alleged irregularities in his academic records and National Youth Service Corps certificate. His exit created a vacant ministerial slot for Enugu State.

Ude, a legal practitioner and newly conferred Senior Advocate of Nigeria, also serves as the Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State. Known for his legal expertise and administrative experience, he has been a key figure in the state’s justice sector reforms.

Observers see his nomination as a calculated step by President Tinubu to restore Enugu State’s representation in the federal cabinet and strengthen regional inclusiveness within his administration.
