Deputy Senate President Declares “I’m Not Scared of Trump” (Video)

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has fired back at U.S. President Donald Trump over his latest comments on Nigeria.

He urged lawmakers to defend the nation’s sovereignty against foreign intimidation.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has criticized United States President Donald Trump following the latter’s recent decision to place Nigeria back on the list of “Countries of Particular Concern” and his threat of possible military action.

During a heated session at the National Assembly, the Kano lawmaker declared that he was not afraid to challenge Trump’s remarks. He urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty and not allow any foreign leader to insult the country.

In a video that has since gone viral, Senator Jibrin accused Trump of spreading falsehoods about Nigeria, stressing that the country should not be disrespected or bullied by any foreign power.

“I’m not scared of Trump. I can say my mind. I’m Nigerian, and Nigeria is a sovereign nation. I am a parliamentarian, and he is saying lies about our country,” Jibrin said during the plenary.

The statement has continued to generate wide reactions across social media. While some Nigerians applauded Jibrin’s boldness, others dismissed his remarks as political grandstanding and hypocrisy.

Nuhu Mai Doya (@DamxMd) wrote, “Trump aside, we are being killed every day, and what have these selfish and corrupt noisemakers done to stop the demons in our villages?”

AB_Ahmad (@AaBalara) praised the senator’s courage, saying, “Strong words from Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin: ‘Nigeria is a sovereign nation. I’m not scared of Trump.’ Proudly defending our nation’s dignity on the global stage.”

However, Bright Tari (@Tsunamiboy_tari) called out Nigerian politicians for hypocrisy, noting, “But your kids live and school in other nations, you do your health care in other nations, you buy properties and have citizenships in other nations, America included!”

Another user, The Truth! (@Shepherd29149), criticized the senator’s remarks, saying, “You should be scared of him because your nation is dependent, not independent. If that comment came from a Chinese or a Russian, I might take it seriously… but from a Nigerian who literally depends on the West for everything? Nah!”
