Isaac Fayose Reacts to Nigeria’s Swift Security Overhaul After Trump’s Comment
Isaac Fayose has questioned the government’s quick security overhaul following Donald Trump’s tweet about Nigeria.
He said such urgency should also tackle national issues like power, education, and the economy.
Businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, has expressed surprise over the reported quick restructuring of Nigeria’s security system following a tweet by U.S. President Donald Trump. Fayose, in a post shared on social media, questioned the government’s priorities, noting that such speed and responsiveness should also be shown in addressing other pressing national issues affecting millions of Nigerians.

The development comes after Trump’s online remarks allegedly prompted the Nigerian government to make swift changes within the security sector. While details of the restructuring have not been fully disclosed, reports indicate that some top security officials were redeployed, while others were tasked with strengthening counterterrorism operations and intelligence coordination across the country.
Reacting to the situation, Fayose said the government’s immediate response to Trump’s comment was “unusually fast,” adding that it showed Nigeria could act decisively when under international attention. He suggested that similar urgency should be applied to areas like power, education, healthcare, and the economy, which continue to face deep-rooted challenges.
According to him, it was ironic that the government only becomes proactive when criticized or mentioned by influential foreign figures, instead of responding to the daily concerns of its citizens. “If only our leaders could treat the words of Nigerians with the same seriousness they treat foreign opinions, this country would be in a far better state,” he wrote.
Fayose urged policymakers to focus on rebuilding public confidence by delivering on promises of reform rather than reacting to external pressure. He emphasized that true leadership is reflected in consistent action, not temporary responses to public embarrassment.
He also called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure that the current changes in the security structure translate into improved safety and stability nationwide, noting that Nigerians deserve sustained progress, not politically motivated gestures.
