Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, explained that the meeting became necessary in view of recent developments within the party, which have created some level of tension among members. He noted that the PDP remains one of the most resilient political parties in Nigeria, having overcome several challenges in its long history while maintaining its founding principles of justice, equity, and democratic inclusion.

Wabara acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in any large political family but stressed that the current misunderstandings do not define the character or direction of the party. He said the Board remains committed to promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and a collective spirit that will strengthen the PDP ahead of upcoming political contests.

The BOT Chairman urged members to put aside personal ambitions and focus on the collective progress of the party. He reminded them that Nigerians are looking up to the PDP as a credible alternative capable of addressing the nation’s challenges, including worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and rising unemployment.

Wabara called on all members to embrace forgiveness and cooperation, emphasizing that unity remains the foundation of the party’s strength. He encouraged stakeholders at all levels to rekindle their sense of purpose and work toward rebuilding trust among members.

He also disclosed that the Board will work closely with the National Working Committee, the PDP Governors’ Forum, and the National Assembly caucus to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and unifying convention in Ibadan. According to him, the meeting marks another step in the PDP’s journey toward internal renewal and national relevance.
