China Reaffirms Support for Nigeria’s Anti-Terror Efforts, Warns Against Foreign Interference
China’s ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has pledged support for Nigeria’s anti-terrorism efforts.
He also warned foreign powers against meddling in the country’s internal affairs under false pretenses.
China’s ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has restated Beijing’s commitment to assisting Nigeria in the fight against terrorism while warning other nations not to meddle in the country’s internal matters.

Dunhai made the statement after meeting with the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. He said China fully supports Nigeria’s efforts toward peace and development, emphasizing that every nation has the right to choose its own path.
“As a strategic partner, China supports the Nigerian government in pursuing a development path that suits its national realities,” he said.
He added that China “opposes interference in other countries’ internal affairs under excuses like religion or human rights,” stressing that such actions often come with threats of sanctions or military force.
The envoy further noted that China would continue to help Nigeria strengthen its security and maintain internal stability.
His statement followed remarks by Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, who on Tuesday cautioned against foreign interference after U.S. President Donald Trump warned of possible military action in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.
Trump had ordered the U.S. Department of War to prepare for “possible action” and again listed Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” under U.S. law.
The Nigerian government has repeatedly rejected claims of religious persecution, maintaining that its security problems are not based on religion but on criminal and extremist activities across the country.
