Kaffy Raises Alarm Over Hidden Dangers Children Face From Trusted Adults

Kaffy has advised parents to closely monitor who interacts with their children.

She stressed that most cases of child abuse often involve familiar faces, not strangers, urging firm boundaries.

Celebrity dancer Kaffy has urged parents and guardians to be more cautious about who they allow around their children, stressing the need to set firm boundaries even with trusted adults in the home.

In a video shared on Instagram, Kaffy said many families still overlook the fact that harmful experiences involving children often come from people close to them rather than strangers.

“Parents need to be cautious of the favorite uncles, the favorite aunties, the favorite nannies, the favorite drivers. There needs to be boundaries. Many children face uncomfortable situations from people who are close to them,” she said.

Kaffy explained that in many African homes, adults are often encouraged to be overly familiar with children without realizing how it affects the child’s sense of safety and personal space. She revealed that someone close to her family once crossed personal boundaries with her when she was young.

“It happened right in front of people who trusted the person. At that age, I didn’t understand what was going on. But I knew something about it was wrong,” she shared.

According to her, people who harm children do not always appear dangerous, as many of them present themselves as caring and helpful. “That’s why parents need to pay attention and set clear boundaries,” she emphasized.

She also cautioned adults against making inappropriate comments about children’s bodies or giving unsolicited physical affection, saying, “Some compliments are unnecessary. Some physical touch is unnecessary. Even if the person is a family member. A child is a child. Respect their space.”

Kaffy concluded by encouraging parents to teach their children that it is okay to say “no” when they feel uncomfortable and announced plans to continue the discussion in her next session, where she will share ways to identify early warning signs and create safer environments for children.
