A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday at Phototek Junction in the Abattoir area of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, when a moving train crushed a tricycle, k!lling the rider and one passenger.

Witnesses said the train, which was on its way from Bukuru to Jos, had repeatedly sounded its horn to alert road users before the crash. However, the tricycle driver allegedly ignored the warning and attempted to cross the railway line.
One resident, Mary Phillip, said the impact was severe and caused instant de@th to two of the occupants. “The train kept honking, but the tricycle still tried to cross. Sadly, the rider and a passenger d!ed instantly,” she said.
Another eyewitness, Mohammed Ibrahim, explained that the crash happened around 11 a.m. and left two other female passengers injured.
The spokesperson for the Jos Railway Station, Adam Abdullahi, confirmed the incident and blamed it on the tricycle operator’s refusal to obey signals.
“At the level crossing, our official tried to stop him, but he refused. The train was already close and hit the tricycle, which caused the accident,” Abdullahi said.
