Two Children Drown In Separate Well Incidents In Kano

Two children have d!ed in separate well accidents in Dala and Dawakin Tofa areas of Kano State.

Officials confirmed both victims were recovered lifeless as residents were urged to cover open wells.

Tragedy struck in Kano State after two children drowned in separate well incidents in Dala and Dawakin Tofa Local Government Areas.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday, November 5, at Dandishe Tsamiyar Goodluck area in Dala LGA, where a six-year-old boy identified as Ahmad Abdurashid lost his life.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, said the agency received an emergency call from one Abubakar Sadiq around 10:02 a.m. He said rescue officers immediately arrived at the scene but found that the boy had already d!ed.

According to Abdullahi, the body was recovered from the well and handed over to the victim’s father, Abdulrashid, who resides in Dandishe quarters. He added that the cause of the accident is still being investigated.

The spokesman urged residents to properly cover their wells and avoid digging open ones near roadsides to prevent similar tragedies, especially in rural areas.

In a separate incident, an eight-year-old girl also drowned in a well on Tuesday morning in Kashirmo Village, Sarkakiya, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

“We received an emergency call from Kabiru Abdullahi at about 8:53 a.m. that a girl had fallen into a well. Our rescue team responded immediately, but sadly, she was brought out lifeless,” the Fire Service spokesman said.

He noted that the body was later handed over to the ward head of Kashirmo Village, Abdullahi Garba.
