Anambra Government Urges Voters to End Apathy, Participate Fully in November 8 Election
The Anambra State Government has urged all residents to vote massively in Saturday’s governorship election.
It described voting as a civic duty that strengthens democracy and ensures accountable governance.
The Anambra State Government has called on all eligible voters across the state to turn out in large numbers and take part in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the government described active voter participation as a civic duty and a key pillar of democracy. It emphasized that voting is not just a right but also a responsibility that strengthens the state’s democratic institutions and ensures that citizens have a direct say in how they are governed.
The statement noted that the level of voter turnout recorded during the 2021 governorship election was alarmingly low, with only about 200,000 of the 2.7 million registered voters casting their ballots. It urged residents to change this pattern by participating fully in the upcoming poll to make their voices count in shaping the future of the state.
“As the Light of the Nation, Anambra has always shown leadership and civic responsibility,” the statement read. “Ndi Anambra should once again lead by example by coming out to vote peacefully and responsibly.”
The government also reassured citizens that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure a secure and transparent electoral process. It encouraged residents to approach the polls with confidence, stressing that their participation will help uphold the state’s legacy of political awareness and responsible citizenship.
The statement concluded by reminding the electorate that democracy thrives only when citizens are actively involved, urging everyone to treat the November 8 election as an opportunity to strengthen Anambra’s position as a model for credible and peaceful elections in Nigeria.
