Tinubu Vows to Defeat Terrorism, Strengthen Nigeria’s Economy
President Bola Tinubu has assured the international community of his commitment to end terrorism in Nigeria.
He said his administration will strengthen global cooperation while driving the nation’s economic recovery.
President Bola Tinubu has assured the United States and the international community that his administration remains fully committed to defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace across Nigeria.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, November 6, the President’s statement came as a response to recent concerns raised by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria’s security situation. Tinubu emphasized that his government will continue to strengthen cooperation with global partners in tackling terrorism, banditry, and other forms of insecurity.
The assurance followed the swearing-in of two new ministers and a positive update on the nation’s economy presented by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun. The minister reported that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.23 percent in the second quarter of 2025, the strongest quarterly growth recorded in a decade, excluding the post-COVID recovery period.
President Tinubu welcomed the news as evidence of the country’s gradual economic rebound, noting that the progress reflects the resilience and determination of his administration’s policies. He linked the recent economic performance to his broader agenda of national renewal and global engagement.
“The most important thing is that despite political challenges and public concerns, we continue to engage with our international partners,” Tinubu said. He pointed to the success of Nigeria’s $2.3 billion bond, which was oversubscribed, as a sign of growing investor confidence in the country.
The President reaffirmed his government’s resolve to move forward with unity and determination under the Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging to build a secure, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria.
According to Tinubu, defeating terrorism and stabilizing the economy remain central priorities as his administration continues to strengthen institutions and pursue reforms aimed at improving the welfare of all Nigerians.
