Anambra Governorship Election: Voting Delayed in Nnewi South

Voting in Ebenator, Nnewi South, was yet to begin hours after the scheduled time.

Hundreds of voters waited anxiously as election materials and officials arrived late.

Voting had not begun in Ebenator community, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, as of 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, leaving hundreds of residents stranded.

Voting Delayed in Nnewi South for Anambra Governorship Election

More than 1,000 registered voters who arrived early at different polling units waited for hours with no sign of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials or materials. Many expressed frustration as the expected start time of 8:30 a.m. passed without any activity.

Reports from the area indicated that the delay was due to the late arrival of election materials and personnel. Similar situations were observed in nearby polling centers, raising concerns among residents about the smooth conduct of the exercise.

As of the time of filing this report, electoral officers were yet to commence accreditation or voting, while security personnel maintained calm at the polling locations.
