“I Don’t Care About Awards” Omah Lay Speaks on His First Grammy Nomination

Omah Lay has celebrated his first Grammy nomination but said awards don’t define him.

He praised Davido as a true friend and hoped he wins in the competitive category.

Nigerian music star Omah Lay has shared his thoughts on receiving his first-ever Grammy nomination. The singer earned the nod alongside Davido for their hit collaboration “With You,” which was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

Taking to his Instagram page, Omah Lay expressed excitement about the recognition but stated that awards don’t define him. According to him, while he appreciates the acknowledgment, he doesn’t place much value on trophies or accolades.

“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha, but honestly, I don’t care about awards. I really want it for OBO though! He’s the realest friend I’ve had in a while he stood by me during my hardest times,” he wrote.

The 2026 Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
