Man Caught Attempting to Steal Patient’s Car at Plateau Hospital
Security guards at Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos have foiled an attempt to steal a Toyota Camry.
The suspect was caught using a master key and handed over to the police.
Security personnel at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Jos, have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to steal a Toyota Camry from the hospital’s premises.


The hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Talatu Achan Angi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday, November 7, 2025. She commended the security team for their alertness and professionalism in safeguarding both lives and property within the facility.
According to the statement, the suspect was caught trying to steal a car parked near the Amenity Ward around 7:15 a.m. The vehicle reportedly belonged to a patient who had come for a medical appointment.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect tried to unlock the vehicle using a master key, not knowing that the owner was still inside. The car owner immediately confronted the suspect and raised an alarm, which drew the attention of security officers on duty.
The statement added that the suspect was swiftly apprehended and handed over to the “A” Division Police Station in Jos for investigation and possible prosecution.
The hospital’s management praised the vigilance of its security personnel for preventing what could have been a major theft within the hospital compound.
It also urged staff, patients, and visitors to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. “Collective responsibility is key to maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone,” the statement read.
The Plateau State Police Command is expected to release further details as investigations continue.
