Bagudo was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday, October 31, in his hometown, Bagudo, shortly after performing his evening prayers. The armed men stormed the area, seized the 60-year-old lawmaker, and whisked him away to an undisclosed location, sparking concern across the state.

Confirming his release in a statement on Sunday, November 9, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, said the lawmaker had been reunited with his family and was receiving medical care.

“The Kebbi State Police Command commends the courage and resilience of the joint security team involved in the rescue operation and appreciates the people of Kebbi for providing useful information that aided the successful outcome,” the statement said.

Abubakar further assured residents that security agencies were intensifying operations to curb banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal acts across the state. He urged the public to remain calm, stay vigilant, and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or relevant security agency for quick intervention.

Bagudo’s safe return has brought relief to his community and colleagues in the state legislature.
