The Super Eagles have resumed full training in Morocco after skipping Tuesday’s session over unpaid bonuses, easing concerns ahead of their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers playoff clash with Gabon.
The players had refused to train on Tuesday to protest outstanding allowances that had not been settled for years. The situation drew wide attention and raised fears that the disruption could affect their readiness for the important match.
However, the matter was resolved on Wednesday after discussions between team officials, players, and football authorities. The squad returned to camp in good spirits, with confirmation coming from Super Eagles captain William Troost Ekong. In a short message he posted on his X account, he wrote, “Issue resolved. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. Team is united and focused as before on representing Nigeria with our maximum for the games ahead.”
The team held a full training session at about 5 pm in Rabat as they continued preparations for the playoff fixture against Gabon, scheduled for Thursday, January 13, at 5 pm.
Officials say the team is now fully focused on the match and confident of putting the brief setback behind them.
