Soludo Approves 30 New Primary Schools Across Anambra
Governor Chukwuma Soludo approved 30 new primary schools to serve communities lacking basic education access.
He said no child should travel long distances for learning as his administration expands opportunities.
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the creation of 30 new public primary schools in communities that currently do not have any government-owned basic education centres. The decision was reached during the first Executive Council Meeting and the 22nd ANSEC Meeting after his re-election.

According to a statement released by the state government in Awka, the move is part of efforts to ensure that every child in Anambra has access to quality education, no matter their location. The government noted that several communities, especially those in remote areas, still lack functional public primary schools, which has forced many children to travel long distances every day.
Governor Soludo, who received loud applause from council members as they celebrated his victory in all 21 local government areas, said education remains a core priority of his administration. He explained that the new schools would be placed in communities where the need is most urgent.
“No child in Anambra should have to trek long distances or be denied basic education because of where they were born,” he said. “We are building a future where learning opportunities are evenly spread and accessible to all.”
The 30 approved schools will come with standard classrooms, trained teachers, and digital learning tools as part of the Smart Schools initiative introduced by the administration. The state said the goal is to upgrade basic education and improve learning outcomes for children in both rural and urban areas.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has presented Governor Soludo with his Certificate of Return after declaring him winner of the 2025 governorship election held last Saturday. The presentation took place at the INEC office in Awka.
The Supervising Electoral Commissioner for Anambra, Ken Ukeagu, said the certificate represents renewed confidence from the people and urged the governor to continue leading with unity and dedication. He congratulated Soludo and his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, and wished them a peaceful and productive tenure.
Anambra REC, Queen Elizabeth Agwu, said she was pleased to witness the excitement of residents, describing the election as a fulfilled promise.
After receiving the certificate, Soludo thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a free and fair election. He also praised INEC and security agencies for their roles during the exercise, noting that Anambra became the first state where the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, delivered a credible poll.
