The DSS has rearrested Ansaru member Abdulazeez Obadaki, who fled during the 2022 Kuje attack.

The Department of State Services has rearrested a wanted member of the Ansaru terrorist group, Abdulazeez Obadaki, who had been on the run since the 2022 Kuje prison attack.

Obadaki was among the 879 inmates who escaped from Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory after the facility was hit by a coordinated assault carried out by terrorists linked to the Islamic State. Security agencies have been pursuing many of the escapees since then.
Obadaki is believed to have played a major role in several v!olent incidents across the country. He has been linked to the armed robbery attacks on banks in Uromi, Edo State and to the deadly shooting at Deeper Life College in Okene, Kogi State.
A security source confirmed his rearrest but declined to provide further information on how or where the operation took place. The source said more details would be made available later.
The development comes almost three months after the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, confirmed the arrest of two men described as senior figures within the Ansaru terrorist network.
