APC Media Group Demands Full Probe into Alleged False Campaign Targeting Kogi Leaders
The APC Media Advocacy Network has raised concerns over sponsored content causing rising political tension.
The group urges security agencies to investigate individuals allegedly funding misleading materials circulating Kogi State.
The APC Media Advocacy Network has called on security agencies to urgently investigate a group of individuals accused of bankrolling false and inflammatory content aimed at creating political tension in Kogi State. The group warned that the alleged activities are becoming a serious threat to peace, unity and confidence within the state’s political circle.

Speaking during an emergency media briefing, the President of the Network, Wisdom Ohalete, said the matter requires immediate attention from the authorities. He explained that some dissatisfied APC members are reportedly working with a serving federal lawmaker and the head of a federal agency to finance content creators who specialize in circulating misleading videos and harmful narratives across social media.
Ohalete noted that these materials are crafted to present Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello in a negative light. He said the content creators push stories that misrepresent recent political developments and appear to be aimed at creating ethnic suspicion and weakening long standing political agreements in Kogi State. According to him, this coordinated effort could destabilize the political environment and damage public trust.
He further stated that this alleged campaign has the potential to undermine unity within the APC in the state. Ohalete warned that such actions may strain the relationship between the Kogi State Government and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if not addressed quickly. He described the situation as a clear attempt to create division for personal gain, adding that genuine party members must work together to protect the integrity of the political structure.
The APC Media Advocacy Network also called on security agencies to invite the implicated federal lawmaker for questioning in order to clarify his involvement. The group urged investigators to track the sources of funding behind the misleading materials and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Ohalete encouraged authorities to provide regular updates so the public can follow the progress of the probe and regain confidence that the political environment is being protected from manipulation.
He stressed that Kogi State has enjoyed a stable political arrangement for years and should not be pushed into unnecessary conflict through sponsored misinformation. The Network reaffirmed its commitment to promoting truth, party unity and responsible political communication.
