The Economic and Organized Crime Office in Ghana has rescued seven Nigerian nationals who were allegedly trafficked into the country and forced to work in cyber fraud operations. The rescue took place at Mataheko Afienya on Friday, November 14, 2025, under an ongoing operation known as Operation LIFELINE.

In a statement released on Monday, November 17, the agency said its officers arrested ten people during the raid. Among them were three suspects and seven victims, all of whom are Nigerians.

According to EOCO, the victims are between the ages of seventeen and thirty. They were reportedly brought into Ghana after being promised genuine jobs, but on arrival, they were made to work under tough and abusive conditions while carrying out online fraud activities.

The agency encouraged the public to be alert and report anything that looks suspicious through its official hotlines or other law enforcement channels. It explained that community involvement is important in stopping human trafficking and cybercrime operations.

EOCO also advised landlords to make proper checks before renting out their houses or rooms to foreign tenants. The agency said this would help prevent criminals from using residential properties as hideouts for illegal online activities.

The statement added that anyone who takes part in cybercrime or helps others to commit such offences will be tracked, arrested and taken to court.
