Armed men att@cked a parish in Kaduna and kidnapped a Catholic priest during the night.
Residents are in fear as the church confirms more victims and appeals for urgent prayers.
Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have abducted Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal, the Parish Priest of St. Stephen Parish, Kushe Gugbu in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident happened in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025.
Residents said the att@ckers stormed the parish compound and took the priest from his residence at midnight, before fleeing the community. The raid has caused fear among locals who woke up to the news of the abduction.
The Archdiocese of Kaduna confirmed the development in a statement signed by its Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Christian Okewu Emmanuel. According to the statement, the brother of another priest, Rev. Fr. Anthony Yero, was m3rdered by the terrorists during the att@ck.
Rev. Fr. Okewu also noted that many other persons were abducted by the gunmen.
The statement added:
“We call on all men and women of goodwill to join us in praying for their safety and quick release from the hands of their abductors and for the peaceful repose of the d3ad. Amen.”
The church has appealed for prayers and calm as families wait for updates on the abducted victims. Security operatives have yet to issue an official response, but community members say the area has faced repeated threats from armed groups in recent months.
