BBNaija’s Tochi Urges Nigerians to Stop Waiting for Celebrities Before Speaking Up

BBNaija star Tochi has criticized Nigerians who wait for celebrities before sharing personal opinions.

He urged people to recognize their voices matter and contribute to important conversations without hesitation.

Big Brother Naija star Tochi has shared a message on his Instagram story, calling out Nigerians who wait for celebrities to comment on issues before forming their own opinions. The reality TV personality said this mindset is part of the reason many important conversations take too long to gain momentum.

Tochi explained that relying on celebrities or public figures to speak first prevents people from recognizing the importance of their own voices. He noted that real change happens when everyone participates, not when a few people with large followings lead the discussion.

In his words, “People keep waiting for celebrities to speak before they find their own voice. That’s the problem.” He added that many Nigerians are still searching for a single figure to lead them, instead of realizing that collective action is more powerful.

Expanding on his point, he wrote that progress cannot come from a handful of individuals taking a stand, but from a wide range of people speaking out together. According to him,

“We keep looking for a ‘leader’ when the truth is simple: every voice matters. Change doesn’t come from a few people talking, it comes from all of us speaking up collectively.”

Tochi encouraged Nigerians to stop waiting for influencers or celebrities before they express their thoughts. He advised people to use whatever platform they already have, no matter how small, to contribute to conversations that matter. As he put it, “Stop waiting for someone with a platform. Start using the one you already have. Your voice counts too.”
