The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a man suspected of being involved in organ harvesting and rescued four young men who were reportedly targeted as kidney donors. The arrest took place in Lafia, the state capital.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Mohammed Jauro, announced the development on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He said the suspect, forty year old Maro Ebojoh, was picked up at Yahaya Sabo Motor Park in the Bukan Sidi area while he was allegedly making plans to collect the kidneys of four individuals.

The intended victims were identified as Umar Ahmed Barau, twenty five, Suleman Alhaji Garba, twenty, Williams Dadung, thirty two and Stanley Ezekiel, twenty seven. They were said to have been enticed with a promise of two million naira each in exchange for their kidneys.

According to the police, the suspect had already paid each victim five hundred thousand naira as an advance to convince them to go through with the plan.

CP Jauro said officers were immediately deployed to the location where the operation was supposed to take place. He explained that the victims were kept in a hotel so that one of them could rest and stabilize his blood pressure before more medical tests were carried out.

The commissioner added that the victims were later moved to a medical centre in Abuja for proper examination and care.

The suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation. He told investigators that he had supplied a kidney donor to another client two months earlier and received one million naira for arranging the deal, while the donor was paid two point five million naira.

CP Jauro warned residents to be cautious, especially as the festive season draws near. He said criminals often pretend to be involved in legal organ donation in order to deceive unsuspecting people. He noted that illegal organ harvesting remains a serious problem in Nasarawa, with poor young men who do menial jobs being the main targets.

He urged the public to report any suspicious activity to security agencies without delay.
