President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State on Wednesday to console the state government and meet with the families of the kidnapped schoolgirls. The visit is also meant to reassure parents and guardians that the Federal Government is working to ensure the girls are rescued without delay.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu also expressed sympathy to the military over the death of several soldiers, including Brigadier General Musa Uba, who lost their lives while fighting insurgents in Borno State.
The President, who has received full briefings from military authorities on both incidents, said he felt deep sadness over the abduction of the students, especially after earlier intelligence reports warned of a possible attack. He praised Kebbi State Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts made to prevent the kidnapping, even though the attackers still gained access to the school.
While reacting to the situation, President Tinubu appealed to communities across the country, particularly those in areas dealing with serious security problems, to work closely with security agencies. He said timely information from residents can help the military, the police, and the DSS protect vulnerable places.
According to him, security agencies cannot do their work effectively without help from Nigerians and local leaders.
In his words, the President said he was heartbroken by the death of the soldiers and the interruption of the education of the schoolgirls. He prayed for the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and the other fallen soldiers. He added that he has ordered security agencies to move quickly and return the girls safely to Kebbi State.
He encouraged citizens to share useful information with security forces, saying community support is essential in the fight against insecurity and in keeping every part of the country safe.
