In-Laws Break Silence on Viral Video of Akin Olaiya’s Bride at Wedding
A viral wedding clip of Akin Olaiya and his bride drew online rumours over her stillness.
Family members have now defended the union, insisting it was based on mutual love and tradition.
Relatives of Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya’s new wife have dismissed rumors surrounding her demeanor at their traditional wedding, following a viral video that triggered mixed reactions online.
The actor, widely known for his roles in Yoruba films, recently tied the knot in a quiet ceremony attended by close family and friends. However, a clip from the event surfaced online showing Olaiya dancing excitedly beside his bride, who remained still and expressionless. The footage quickly went viral, prompting online speculation that the marriage may not have been entirely consensual.

Amid the backlash, a female relative of the bride released a video response to clarify the situation. She firmly denied claims that the union was arranged or forced, stating that the couple deeply love each other and that all traditional rites were fully observed.
“To everyone asking if our daughter was forced to marry Akin Olaiya, that is not true. Her bride price was properly paid in full by her husband. We didn’t give her out cheaply. They love each other so much. We Hausas don’t give our daughters out because of money or friendship. This union is pure love,” she stated.
The family urged the public to disregard the misleading video, noting that cultural differences in expression should not be misinterpreted. Meanwhile, other videos from the ceremony have since surfaced, showing the couple laughing, smiling, and interacting warmly with guests helping to dispel earlier concerns.
