Retired Bayelsa Military Administrator, Olubolade, Slumps and Dies at Age 70
Retired Navy Captain and former Bayelsa State Administrator, Omoniyi Caleb Olubolade, has died at 70 after collapsing during a game of tennis in Lagos.
His family confirmed he was rushed to a naval hospital in Apapa but could not be revived. Funeral arrangements are underway, with details expected from the family soon.
Retired Navy Captain Omoniyi Caleb Olubolade, who once served as the Military Administrator of Bayelsa State, has passed away at the age of 70. The Ekiti State-born ex-naval officer celebrated his last birthday on November 30, 2024.
His death was confirmed in a joint statement released by his eldest children, Oluwayemisi Akinadewo and Dayo Olubolade. According to the family, the retired officer drove himself to a nearby tennis facility but collapsed while playing.
The statement revealed, “He went to the venue on his own to play lawn tennis in the evening but slumped during the game. Despite immediate medical intervention by on-site personnel, he could not be revived.”
He was quickly taken to Obisesan Naval Medical Hospital in Apapa, where doctors officially confirmed his passing.
The family has stated that funeral arrangements will be shared at a later time.
