Kwara United Football Club’s historic win at the 2025 President Federation Cup was celebrated in grand style on Monday by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The governor hosted the club’s senior and U-19 teams in Ilorin following their respective triumphs in the Federation Cup and the National Youth League.

Kwara United secured the Federation Cup title after defeating Abakaliki FC 4-3 on penalties, a feat that has brought immense pride to the state. The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, announced that each player of the main squad would receive N5 million and a plot of land within the Kwara Smart City as a token of appreciation.
“This is the biggest trophy in Nigeria today. It is bigger than the League Cup. This has been in existence even before the League was formed. The trophy is in Kwara, today,” Governor AbdulRazaq remarked, commending the players for their hard work.
He also reflected on the club’s transformation since 2019, when the team was struggling financially. “When we came in 2019, everything was down. We owed players a lot of money, but today the story has changed. So, I thank you all for what you are doing.”
The governor dedicated the victory to the late Alhaji Yusuf Salami, who had previously invested his wealth to bring the trophy home but was unsuccessful. “May Allah grant him Alijanna Fridaous.”
The reception, held at the Banquet Hall, GRA Ilorin, followed a celebratory motorcade through the city, with residents showing enthusiastic support. Among the dignitaries present were Rukayat Shittu, Yusuf Abdulwaheed Gbenga, Princess Olubukola Babalola, Coach Bola Magaji, Kumbi Titiloye, and Malam Abdullahi Musa Thuraya.
Both Coach Magaji and Chairman Titiloye expressed gratitude to the governor for his continued backing and investments in the club’s progress.
