The Anambra State Police condemned the shooting in Ogboji and described the attack as unprovoked and brutal.
They assured the public that the perpetrators would be hunted down and brought to justice without delay.
The Anambra State Police Command has strongly condemned a violent attack that led to the deaths of ten individuals in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area, on the evening of June 30, 2025. According to the police, the shooting was carried out by unidentified gunmen who arrived at the scene in two SUVs and opened fire on an unsuspecting gathering.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command described the shooting as unprovoked and senseless. “The Command shall hunt down the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” he assured.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers fired shots indiscriminately, causing panic and chaos. Victims were immediately taken to the hospital, but sadly, ten of them were confirmed dead. Their bodies have since been deposited in the morgue.
A police-led security team has now secured the area and launched an investigation to track down those responsible. SP Ikenga noted that efforts are ongoing and that further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
