Charly Boy Rejects Opposition Coalition Ahead of 2027 Elections
Charly Boy has dismissed a new opposition coalition aiming to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.
He says the alliance recycles failed politicians lacking vision, sincerity, and genuine reform agendas.
Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has dismissed the credibility of the newly formed opposition alliance seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
A group of influential politicians from various parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and disgruntled members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), recently came together to form a coalition. Led by former Senate President David Mark, the group has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the political platform to take on the current administration.
The announcement sparked optimism among some Nigerians who see the coalition as a fresh opportunity to push for change. However, others have expressed doubts about the sincerity of the politicians involved.
Activist Omoyele Sowore, in a statement released on Wednesday, distanced himself from the alliance, labeling its members as corrupt.
Echoing similar concerns, Charly Boy took to his official Facebook page on Thursday night to express his disappointment with the coalition. He accused its members of lacking genuine intent to fix the country and described them as part of the same political establishment that contributed to Nigeria’s problems.
According to him, “the same people that sank this country are suddenly singing redemption songs.”
He went further, questioning the motives behind their new political unity: “Coalitions are forming, but let’s not pretend that every alliance is progress. Sometimes, it’s just old wolves in new agbada.”
He asked pointed questions about the true agenda of the coalition leaders: “Are they fighting for you, or fighting to sit where their enemies used to sit?”
“Are they shouting ‘enough is enough’ because they’ve changed…Or because they’re no longer the ones benefitting?” he added.
Charly Boy concluded his message by stressing the need for a different kind of leadership, one rooted in integrity, vision, and courage: “We don’t just need new names. We need new values, new visions, and people with the guts to live by them. 2027 is not about revenge. It’s about rescue.”
